Ugh, I hate the fact that I’ve actually committed to my Warden in Dragon Age because now every time I want to make a bad choice I’m like “She wouldn’t do that!” Now I’m headed to the Landsmeet and I know I have to make end-game decisions and I don’t want to. Even though Morrigan’s Ritual would negate the need to sacrifice a Grey Warden, I don’t think my Warden would let that happen knowing that it would potentially end with another big bad being unleashed on Ferelden. She trusts Morrigan, but not that much, and it’s way too blood-magicky for an elf mage and a Circle sympathizer.
With the ritual off the table, my options are to recruit and sacrifice Loghain (the most logical choice since it’s the only way he could ever redeem himself - but it also means Alistair leaving the party and/or possibly dying?), let Alistair go through with the sacrifice, or do it myself. I feel like my Warden’s natural inclination would be to sacrifice herself, but I really wanted to use her in Awakenings. I know BioWare lets you import a Warden even after the Ultimate Sacrifice, but that much ret-conning just kind of gives me the icks.
I usually have Alistair in my party because he’s one of my most adept warriors (Sten is better on brute strength, but less strategic, I can’t seem to get his tactics set right). Given that I only know about Alistair’s automatic sacrifice because I read stupid spoilers, I could conceivably take him with me to the Archdemon and let him do the US, leaving my Warden alive and un-retconned for Awakenings. It would kind of suck, but it would follow pretty well with her story and would open up some interesting possibilities for her decision making in Awakenings.
Long story short: WHY DID I BUY AN XBOX?
