You guys, I might survive being vegan after all.
I went to Whole Foods yesterday to get some supplies since Wednesday is the start of my one-month vegan experiment. I am a self-admitted snacker, I don’t eat a ton at meals but I typically want something to eat every 2-3 hours. My usual go-to’s for snacking are not vegan (and not particularly healthy, either) so I was kind of worried.
I picked up Brad’s Raw Leafy Kale (the plain kind with some “cheesy” nutritional yeast” thinking that it looked pretty awful - like, total hippie chow, but that I liked kale and cheese so what the hell.
SO. DELICIOUS. It is better than the best potato chip I ever had in my life and I’m 100% not kidding. It’s light and crunchy and has a not-overwhelming cheesy flavor, but you still get the veggie-ness of the kale. Oh and did I mention that it’s not baked OR fried, just dehydrated so it retains all of its nutrition-y goodness without adding fat?
It’s wicked expensive (both at Whole Foods and online) so I’m going to have to keep myself from devouring it regularly, but if this is the quality bar for vegan snackage, I might be okay.
Now if I could just find frozen waffles…
